Design research in the vKBT Lab focuses on theory-based innovation & co-design processes to guide creative development & iterative assessment of eLearning environments, followed by outcomes evaluation of knowledge building & translation in medical, interprofessional health sciences & patient education.

Facets of vKBT research also explores knowledge building in the context of medical legal visualization and the history of medical art.

Foundations of vKBT design research work are based on theoretical principles of educational technology, cognitive psychology & interactive media design.

The vKBT Lab was originally created by Leila as a virtual research lab in the Master of Science in Biomedical Communications, Institute of Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto & Department of Biology, University of Toronto Mississauga.
